From the recording Better World
An Army buddy wrote the lyrics to this song over 50 years ago while we served together in Vietnam. While cleaning out some old files about 10 years ago, I found them and decided to put them to music. Meanwhile I have searched high and low for my old friend, John Biddleman, and have not been able to find him. So, John, wherever you are, this one's for you.
Lyrics
Morning Dream
Lyrics by John Biddleman, Music by David Stumph
Verse 1
Morning drafted in like tragedy
Through my door
This is not like any morning
I’ve ever known before
Chorus
I got up much too far
My thoughts began to char
Morning dream, Morning dream
Is with me
Chorus
I got up much too far
My thoughts began to char
Morning dream, Morning dream
Is with me
Verse 2
My mind began a myriad of
Mazes in my head
Spinning, churning like a whirlwind
In my head
Chorus
Time, I felt, was no more
Knocking at my door
Was Morning dream, Morning dream
Is with me
Chorus
Time, I felt, was no more
Knocking at my door
Was Morning dream, Morning dream
Is with me
Verse 3
I....... got up
And to my dismay
Everyone was still
Statuettes of clay
Chorus
Waking was harder still
It nearly broke my will
I muttered forsooth, morning truth
Is with me
Chorus
Waking was harder still
It nearly broke my will
I muttered forsooth, morning truth
Is with me
I muttered forsooth, morning truth
Is with me
